Higher Study in Thailand

The Degrees are

1. Diploma Degree.

Semester Offer

In Thailand, most universities offer three semesters in one academic year in different time.

1. Semester 1: June to October.
2. Semester 2: November to March.
3. Semester 3: April to May. Or

2. Semester 2: January to May.
3. Semester 3: June to July.

Requirements for Bachelor’s Program

1. Academic
2. At least 12 years of education (HSC equivalent).
3. Language Proficiency
4. Students should be proficient in Thai for communication.
5. Most Universities require: TOEFL CBT score 197 or iBT score 71. Or IELTS band score 5.5 minimum.
6. Course Length
7. Bachelor’s Degree: Normally requires 4 years of full-time study. With the exception of some academic disciplines, e.g. Architecture and Pharmacy, five years; Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Medicine, six years.

2. You must have had 16 years of education.
3. Language Proficiency
4. Students should be proficient in Thai for communication.

7. Master’s Degree: Normally requires 2 years of full-time study.
8. Doctoral Degree: Normally requires 3 to 4 years of full-time study.

How to Apply to The University

1. Check with the departments to see if there is a closing date for your application.
2. You should write directly to the Institution’s Admission Office for detailed application information and forms.
3. You can also download application form from university website.
4. Some universities have an on-line application facility.
5. Admission Office will inform you about the documentation, translation, and visa requirements.
6. You should start at least one year in advance to compile the necessary information and documentation.
7. The decision of the institution is usually announced within approximately six to eight months of the application deadline.

Other Information

1. Medical Insurance

A medical and nursing service is available at the Student Health Centre. The University also provides a 24-hour first aid and ambulance service, and arranges health and accident insurance cover for all students.

1. Working in Thailand:

Students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during their school term. In Thailand, students are allowed to work full time during official school holidays.

2. Students are allowed to work Teaching, Computer and IT, Writing and Editing, Engineering, Entertainment and in Music, Waiters or Cooking, Hotel, Cleaner, University cafeteria etc.
3. Average wages from part time job is $US5 to $US10 per hour.
4. Credit Transfer Facility
5. Students may apply for credit transfer program at undergraduate or postgraduate level in Thailand.
6. The maximum amount of credit that may be granted normally is not greater than 50% of the course.
7. Most of the universities in Thailand consider minimum “B” grade for acceptance.

 

You have to submit the following documents to your target university:

1. Your application form for the Undergraduate or Postgraduate coursework program.
2. Official copies of your academic transcript.
3. Also include an official letter from head of the school/department of your university, from where you have already completed the courses.
4. Detailed course outlines (Official Copy) including subject descriptions, methods of teaching and assessment, reading lists, number of hours of teaching etc.
5. The academic level you are studying (e.g. First Year, Second Year etc.).
6. How many credits you have completed.
7. An explanation of the grading system used at your institution.
8. Information on the total units of study requirement (i.e. how many credits are required) for the completion of the degree.
